Ermenrich Zing DZ100 Digital Clamp Meter

The Ermenrich Zing DZ100 is a professional digital clamp meter for servicing industrial electrical equipment, power installations, and electronics. The jaws open to 52mm, making it easy to clamp around large-diameter main cables, paired conductors, and massive current-carrying busbars in distribution substations. The current is measured without breaking the circuit or shutting down equipment.

High currents and DC voltage

The clamp meter measures AC and DC current up to 1,500A, making it suitable for servicing powerful electric motors, generators, UPS systems, battery systems, and welding equipment as well as the power section of EV charging stations. The Inrush function captures short-term inrush current surges when equipment is turned on, which is important for diagnosing loads with high starting torque. DC voltage is measured up to 1,000V, and AC voltage up to 750V. True RMS technology provides accurate readings with non-sinusoidal current waveforms, such as in circuits with inverters, variable frequency drives, and switching power supplies.

Cryogenics and thermal monitoring

The temperature capabilities of this model go far beyond standard testers. The included thermocouple can measure extreme cold down to −100°C. This allows the clamp meter to be used for servicing cryogenic systems, liquefied gas storage facilities, and deep-freeze chambers. The upper limit of +1,000°C easily covers all the requirements for monitoring the heating of metallurgical furnaces, industrial boilers, and heavy equipment exhaust systems.

Electronic component diagnostics

The frequency meter up to 40MHz and duty cycle meter help test generators, PWM controllers, and digital circuits. The capacitance meter up to 40mF tests both small capacitors and large electrolytic ones in power supplies, inverters, and welding machines. In diode test mode, the device outputs up to 2.8V, which is sufficient to test diodes, transistor junctions, and high-power white and blue LEDs in TV backlights or car headlights.

Safety and convenience

For safe operation in high-voltage areas, a non-contact voltage detection (NCV) function is provided. It helps locate live wires or hidden wiring at a distance. The device complies with CAT III 600V and CAT II 1,000V overvoltage categories, making it suitable for work in distribution panels and at equipment inputs. The audible continuity test with a threshold below 50Ω quickly finds open and short circuits. All the data is displayed in a large format on a screen with a bright backlight, which is invaluable when inspecting dark workshops or de-energized rooms. The device is powered by a single 9V battery (not included).
